Why Diamond? That’s the question I asked myself for years until I finally tried my first diamond cutting tools. There’s no denying the speed and versatility of diamond tooling. Unlike steel files, they cut in any direction and never clog with chips causing drag-lines – draw filing and surface blending can be done with diamond hones in less than half the time required with a file because you don’t waste your time cleaning the file teeth and the diamond hones cut in both directions. Unlike conventional stones, with diamond coated abrasives you don’t have to worry about grooving or dishing out the surface from constantly working in one spot. Diamond coated abrasives will cut all metals including carbide, tungsten & tool steel in addition to wood, glass, ceramic, stone and anything else you can find except for diamond itself. Never use oil on diamond coated tools, it will cause the surface to load-up, use dry or with water (adding a few drops of detergent to the water will help break the surface tension and aid in wetting the surface better – 10% or lower soluble oil & water mixtures will also work well. Please note that when you first use a new diamond coated tool, it may appear that the grit rating is courser than expected or that the coating is coming off, this is perfectly normal when the tooling is first used, grit rating will be correct once the cutting surface is used the first time on a hard material. *Always wear all appropriate safety gear and clothing when using any cutting tools!
